Vote Defender is Live
Information and mobiliation platform ahead of the midterms.
Voting rights in the United States are being eroded as we speak. Just a couple of days ago, the Supreme Court stuck down another provision of the Voting Rights Act, with many seeing this as a severe blow to the rights of many americans in the United States.
On top of this, the administration has already shared its interest for ICE to be at polling locations during the midterms; intimidating and further suppressing our right to make the change we need.
Vote Defender is my attempt to do that.
What can Vote Defender Do?
Available on iOS and Android - Vote Defender is an app that tries to do several things in one spot:
You can learn about the races that are happening across the United States for both House and Senate, along with getting information for how to contact your representatives with one push
Registering with the app, you can put in your address and see your individual representatives in one spot. I also have tied the app to AI agents that are doing research against official sources and news reports to generate a candidate report letting you know exactly what your candidate stands for on issues
All of this information is available in multi-language: English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic, and Somali, with more languages coming soon. I’m also designing a dedicated Spanish app called Defensor del Voto
We know individuals are going to need to get to the polls, and we know that the administration is planning on deploying ICE to the polls. The app serves as a mobilization platform to allow individuals to report any intimidation, equipment issues, or long lines, as well as creating a platform for individuals to request help during the time of voting. Things like translation, legal assistance, or ride to the polls.
The Power is in the Community
Vote Defender is designed to be a community organization app. Partner organizations are key to this. an organization can sign up and deputize their boots on the ground to be the individuals that are fulfilling the services request portion of this. The deal here is that this is not focused on one individual person, but is a platform that we can all rally behind.
if we know that we have boots on the ground, we can dedicate safe corridors and safe zones so that individuals can see that we have supporters at key areas and feel comfortable coming to exercise their right to vote, knowing that they have backup.
Vote Defender has a dedicated comms platform to allow broadcast messages to get out to the entire community when someone reports a problem with voting, as well as general messages to the community to keep them informed. There is even a separate section for organizations to use to send communications to their individual scouts, allowing them to be able to mobilize individuals on the ground.
Mobilize with Local Organizations
The administration is going to do whatever they can to make a coordinated push to suppress our vote. This is going to require us to do more that holding a sign and protest. We are going to need to start early, coordinate with organizations on the ground, and come up with a plan to bring a No Kings sized pushback to inform voters. We are going to need to get this out to as many as we can.
If you know of an organization that wants to donate to the charge have them go to votedefender.com/ donate.
But more important - Share this with any community organizations wanting to pick up the charge, and tell everyone you know about it.
Go to votedefender.com - or download it on iOS or download it on Android.
